Help & FAQ

Hangout makes your social life joinable. Post what you are doing, it shows up in a live local feed, and friends and nearby people can see it, join it, and show up. Here is how it works and what people ask most.

How it works

1. Post a plan. A title, a time, a place. Or type it like a text and let the app fill in the rest.

2. It goes live. Your hangout lands in the feed for the audience you choose, from the whole city to one group.

3. People show up. They tap join, you see who is coming, and check-ins light up as they arrive.

Is Hangout free?

Yes. Creating an account, posting, and joining hangouts are free.

How do I sign in?

With your phone number. We text a one-time code each time, so there is no password to remember.

Who can see my hangouts?

You choose per hangout: the whole city, just friends, an invite list, or a saved group. Public plans spread; private ones stay tight.

Do you track my location?

No. Location is opt-in and only used to center your feed and prompt check-ins. Check-ins are confirmed and discrete, never a live location.

Can I invite people who are not on Hangout?

Yes. You can text an invite link to anyone, and they can join from there.

How do I report or block someone?

From their profile or a message. Blocked people cannot see your hangouts, message you, or find your profile. See our Safety page.

How do I delete my account?

In Settings, or email us. Deletion removes your hangouts, check-ins, and social graph and cannot be undone.
